Game Design: Reservoir Scale (5 states)
This material is not meant for Players or GMs; This is part of design, development and testing and is intended for that audience to assist in creating and assessing Incarna materials.
The “Reservoir Scale” is used for measuring different uses of a point value measurement. It is assumed there will always be some measurement. The nature of the Reservoir is one of the following:
- Pool: The Reservoir does not naturally replenish itself over time, but requires conditions or activity specific to the use of the scale.
- Well: The Reservoir naturally refills given the passing of time; conditions and activity may also apply, all specific to the use of the scale.
Negative Representation? See “spent” on the scale.
Zero Representation? A zero value is represented in the scale under “Reservoir”.
- Reservoir: The most common level of representation on the scale.
- Pledged: In temporary use/assigned from the Reservoir.
- Free: Unpledged amount in the Reservoir.
- Allocated: A value representing a measurement already set aside when gaining new measures of the Reservoir. It is typically noted the purpose of the specific allocation in addition to the amount.
- Spent: The least level of representation on the scale. This is often not required to be tracked or measured, but can be – this is player choice or may be required by GMs.
Singular Representation? If an element exist of which there is only a single representation/expression, it is handled outside the scale itself.
