Vulnerable: Magical Cause Disease causes all inhabitants except Viers to got it. There are some genetic issues with the townsfolk, as a single male is the father of so many that have bred as brother-sister.
Braccad is a small city built of rough thought-shaped stone that bulged over time and from a thought-created forest that is at once drying out and splitting from absorbed moisture and still growing in buildings. The founder, one Viers d’Bleu of a land called The Young Kingdoms was catapulted here in some sorcerous accident with his apprentice and 3 fiendish servants (only 1 now). He used 2 up trying to thought-grow [female sex-slave] people out of the shifting earth and accumulated needed materials and knowledge. This worked, though though their offspring lacked the hold he had on his creations. He is old now (still looks young), attended by 63 remaining women. His apprentice left long ago and the last correspondence was from a place on the other side of gorge called the Misty Coast. Almost everyone in town has some semblance of Viers. Everyone has grown used to the lands changing. Nothing is lethal any more, though a few random die-offs happened over the last 50 years. Folk have learned to let the stability settle in, it creates less accidents than trying to thought-control the chaos and entrophy effect.
He has 8 new apprentices – a tribute to the 8 pointed symbol of chaos. Almost all are identical in power, though he has managed to acquire enough materials through sending his servants (fiendish and mortal alike) abroad to gather enough research materials to make a lab (he grows red reed for parchment). His “school” is a leaning black 5 story stone tower that has massive roots like a tree (it wont lean any further). It has ‘graduated’ 4 apprentices so far – who all left for better prospects.
Here is a church to Achtval – Vier’s new patron and ally. He is getting extended life for the occasional human sacrifice of strangers that roll through, Viers knows the spirit of Achtval by the name of Xiombarg and built an altar of Blood and Souls offering for the power.
Nearby is a strange red-orange lake who’s waters taste like koolaid. It is fed from 8 streams that seem to move over the landscape, changing course from month to month. In it dwell a species of sentient large octopus’ that can breath in water and on land for 8 hours. They have learned to ride horses, and have stolen and domesticated horses that range free nearby.
There is a strange cult inside the town (actually led from one of the hamlets (Sudbury) that believes they are all stuck in a strange duality of time. That all of them are duplicates of themselves from another time and place. They believe if they can kill Viers, they will ascend and gain the life force of both them and their time-doppelgangers, as well as the favor of the powers of chaos that Viers claims brought him here – Xiombarg. This also requires Blood and Souls – but only “uncorrupted” young women can serve as a sacrifice.
It is said this cult is led by a creature who takes the form of a woman and lives in the grasslands, biding her time to take control of the town and lead the people against Viers. Several children were kidnapped by the prophet, dozens have been sent searching for this prophet by Viers, few have returned. The few that returned at least managed to free 5 of the 6 little girls that had been stolen, that was 10 years ago. Symbols and signs (graffiti) creep up over town, but its been quiet for a long time,
