The Pranin Forest was inundated and waves lapped the shore and flooded the entire area. The magic in the storm turned the forest into the Pranin Moorswood. The line of druids was broken, and shadows lurked in it for years after. The gods of darkness used this bastion of shadow and the blight upon the Pranin Forest grew. Powerful enclave’s of Orrish set up nests, and a breeding creech that produced masses of festering dark-spawn that clawed their way into the southern lands of Bar-Innis, in the Duchy of Dunstrand. Several notable and powerful Ork fighters lead the war effort until the Order of Davros sends in powerful members to cleanse the darkness. Chief among them was Arak’ar the Razorfist, small for an Ork but with a hatred that burned like a thousand suns.
In 8316 Arak’ar pushed into the lands of the Hogon Landstead just before the family was awarded the baronial stewardship. Had he not been killed, and the Orrish lost morale, his 10 year campaign would have swept much farther and butchered more than the dozen towns and villages, some repeatedly. A scourge like his was not seen again in the moorswood… thankfully.
It took a hundred years after that to drive out every shadow, and every witch-light, and hundreds more to kill off every pestilent lair of goblins and Orks. It is said that the druidic order in the moorswood took into themselves some of the darkness of the reclaimed woods to root out this infestation of Orrish – they are far more secretive and aggressive than others of their brotherhood. Only the High Kings Rangers can travel through their wilds without harm.
In 8433, it took the High Kings Rangers to negotiate with the Baron of Crestwold to secure logging and access to a small area – it is aggressively scrutinized by the druids, and every perceived sleight results in rashes, spoiled food and water, and cold rain and winds driving out workers and steadings on its border.
