The Brotherhood (though patriarchal in its history, willingly accepts women now) is an ancient institution that prides itself in the discipline, glory, and triumph of conquest.
Credo: Live by it, die by it. I Live for it, Let others die for it. Sure I like to play, I just have dangerous toys. War, what is it good for? Settling disputes.. That’s what. Soldiers clash with soldiers – this is the way. Only the weak and wicked purposefully spill the blood of innocents. Any that take up arms loses their innocence; No matter what they may have been before, they are a soldier.
This is a common feature of the brotherhood, in almost every location there is a Temple of War to the god. The Battle Square is to bring glory and honor to the name of Mizras. They only fight named opponents. If they feel unequal or that killing the enemy is overall bad for their reputation or safety of locals they will issue an charge of honor, that it not be to the death. If they lose, they give up their armor. Also travel to tourney for joust and grand melee. Mizran Battle Square armor is forged especially for its square members or to honor a glorious combatant.
This order of knights is NOT an officially recognized order, except for within the faith of Mizras. They operate to (as they put it) “balance out the scales”. They are often in the employ of hopeless causes, the underdog, or in service to a competing warlord or rival noble. Most just see them as war mongers who live for violence and personal glory.
