Benreive horses were massive equines/horses of the Steel Realms, with bones and large hooves “like steel” that needed no shoeing and handled well in mud, rock, and soft ground alike. Their colorations are a distinct blue-green and brown. The last of these came with the Riverdan Lords and died out in the early days of the settling of the Vale of Dunstrand. They were prized as heavy war horses, some standing 3m tall and capable of easily have a fighting platform for 2 men or a heavily armored knight that would be secured and bolted to their special saddle to be a mobile battering ram in some instances. The Ducateon even made the Benreivian Bridles special for them.
Benreive were bred and fed upon the magical grass of Reveinan (a county of the Fallen East of the Steel Realms), in a mountain valley pasture where the grass grew blue. (Unknown to all, this exposed to an ancient chemical spill of the Ur-Dacateon that made the horses grow huge).
The bloodlines of the Beneive died out when the east fell. Those found were slaughtered for their meat. The lords of the east that would eventually find their home in the Riverdans territory of Monaides of the grand Duchy of Dunstrand and would continue their lineage as Reivians. Without the sustenance of the Reveinan grass, they are a shadow of what they once were – though still sought out today. They do not breed in large numbers, and the lords of the Riverdans do not sell them or train them for outsiders.
