The quakes have been happening for decades, but since 9167 they have been getting more frequent. Tiny ones happen monthly, small ones every few months and a large one about once a year now.
Talking amongst yourselves, you travel alone on the road. Suddenly, the world pitches and shakes! Mounts rear, livestock bolts, and people seek stable shelter as structures cracks and rocks vibrate and tumble. There is nothing nearby for you, but only 20 seconds into it, it subsides.
It takes minutes before the aftershocks quit.
DC 15 Wisdom (Animal Handling);
Disastrous Result = mount runs/lost forever generally
Dire Result = mounts bolts – d6 hours to recover + skittish for a day; new check every event
Fail = mounts take d3 hours to recover
What can be learned: The earthquakes have been happening more for decades, and growing over time. The last few have been having longer after shocks. The strength has been about the same. Whatever it is, the tension causing it has not changed or slipped. For ages, off an on since the Westmarch of Dunstrand Vale sank and became Scar flow, the quakes have plagued Dunstrand (though ‘plague’ is inappropriate – they have been minor; Richter scale 4-5 tops). They have increased in frequency since the late CY 9130’s. In 9168 they increased significantly for a few months, but dropped down for the current year. Dwarves and Ducateons living in the Grand Duchy of Dunstrand have sent search parties out, but nothing has been discovered to indicate anything more pressing than it being a natural occurrence… but rumors always presist. The anger of the Pranin Moorswood druids, Elancil, the patron sea goddess of Gwinn, monsters, demons, giants… even the dark gods for the few end-of-the-world doom-sayers. No one has come forward to own it.
