Properties and happenstances of Aether Wells – a strange and magical occurrence of the iVerse in which time, probability, and abilities are transformed, warped, and twisted.

A single point where a multitude of souls and spirits has passed through in their transition to the another dimension, plane, the House of the Dead or other such place over millennium, though has remain unchanged by the living. The Aether Well is a form of Animus Wellspring unto itself – perhaps the mostly strange and strongest of all Greater Animus. Characters or entities experiencing the effects of an Aether Well are known as “Quasi-Seekers“. Like any point with a direct line to the Aether, it is a place on divergent and infinite possibility. The manifestation of the “Well” itself if fully ethereal. As such, once part of the Well’s power, creatures and objects within cannot be targeted or harmed by those without, and are most often completely invisible to them.

Paradoxical Effects

In some cases, paradoxical effects have been able to alter the scope of encounter triggers in addition to other effects.

Encounter Triggers

Triggers are the key actions or conditions which illicit an encounter in an Aether Well. These are unique to each occurence, and each has a scope of knowledge and experience exposed through the Aether Well.
Triggers determine the scope of the exposure to the Aether – In some situations the entire well will have a single trigger scope, in other places the scope of the trigger is unique to the area – though always relative to the Seeker.

Tethered > The scope of knowledge or experience exposed by the encounter is limited to only the abilities the Seeker currently possesses.

Localized > The scope of knowledge or experience exposed by the encounter is limited to the abilities of the Cultural Level the Seeker is currently exposed to and aware of.

Globalized > The scope of knowledge or experience exposed by the encounter is limited to all the abilities the greater Cultural Level in the setting the Seeker is part of.

Universalized > The scope of knowledge or experience exposed by the encounter from the entire mutiverse – abilities and knowledge may make no sense and seem totally alien and terrifying.

Activating Triggers

Characters may travel through or experience an Aether Well with minimal impact. The lesser the impact, the less risk (and reward) they chance.

  1. Travel: Simply moving through an area without directly trying to disturb or remove anything
  2. Disturbing: Searching, moving things around, eating, sleeping, etc. – generally having to stay in an area for time, but generally leaving it as it was found
  3. Removing: Taking found objects, reorganizing the area, breaking or changing the locale from how it was found
