The use of Crown Tags (“dog tags”) has been instituted by Military Service in the High King‘s army and the entire military of Umbak. Most liege’s of fiefdoms and institutions with Followers use them as well now, and certainly All who are part of the Realms Levy. All tags issued have a list in which the name, place of origin, and date issued are stamped, that they receive at the start of their service term. Service records are independent of the actual Crown Tag record issuance itself, though use its ID number. The service record maintained by the location garrison, institution or fiefdom, all tags are also stamped with the issuing body that represents the area of service. ID tags are based on the source of issuance. Their use has spread to almost every Knightly order of the steel Realms as well.
Those of Umbak specifically are separate, and stamped in High Dundaran.
In addition to most Lord’s and fiefdoms stamping their own Crown Tags, the Tour of Duty stations of the Realms Levy also provides them. Those serving at North Gate Garrison often also get the Redgate Mark at the end of their first Tour of Duty.
