NPC Characters

Progress of Events

  1. Group woken up at night. Kidnap victim (Laara?) was taken away and abductors were chased to the docks
  2. Fight on docks, then chase on boat. Pursue to a coastal village.
  3. Village is loyal to Thorfinn (he protects them) and party must forcibly get information.
  4. Assault on Thorfinn’s Hideout. Kidnap victim has been taken away; Throfinn should escape too.
  5. Blighted Sky delivers a message mysteriously and proof (finger?) that victim is alive and to stay away. The parchment is distinctive and leads the group to deduce that it is from somewhere far in the north.

The group may see later that night a dark figure with leathery wings fly away, silloueted agains tthe stars. They can get a shot in, very long range. The figure will not die, (and will remember who shot them) and will fly towards Thorfinns hideout (even if its been sacked – just to recuperate in the ruins).
Party should see which way it goes and may deduce.

  6. Return back to Thorfinn’s hideout – the village has been scared because the creature took 3 young children and was eating a 4th on its way to the old hideout.
  7. The group is ambushed by a gang of killers called the Three Blades Wind (symbol is 3 black blades, tips meeting at a single point); There are 9 of them, hired by Thorfinn after he fled (he knew they would be back). The character should see the flying creature get away, going north.
  8. When the group returns, one of the victims family tries to kill the group with poison – its only succeeds in making them horibly sick for 2 months. No one knows who did it.
  9. During recuperation, sages track the Three Blades Wind to their home, located over a weeks journey away. The group can decide to spend money while recovering and get even more information.

They are lead by a pale man who dresses in a black cloak with a white spot on it. His symbols are a black star and red moon.

  10. The group has a small celebration in their honor by both the family (at their house) and one of their faith’s (at a local pub); at the later a thug attempts to kill a character in a brawl (seems drunk but is sober)

On his horse they find a note referncing the victim and that the ritual time (drowned for Pyray) is nigh, that he should report back to his chapter (symbol – urban lore gets a chance to see if they recognize it as the Black Stallion Club) in time for it.

  11. Assault on the Black Stallion Club. The mags leading them (pale man; necromancer) teleports away before the characters can corner them. The cultists have only left a peripheral guard, most are involved in a ritual, lead by a pale man in a black robe and cloak.

The interruption of the ritual (cultists are slightly stupified by the incense) should lead to their slaughter. They find an amulet they have seen before.

  12. Confrontation! The group returns to the family of the victim, the mother has a twin of the amulet. About half the family is involved. The group must figure out who is telling the truth and who is involved.
  13. If the amulet is taken afterwards to a priestess of Arioch, They can tell some of the history and relate it to the long forgotten allegiance to the dark gods, and those of the sea.

Ages ago, the family was nearly extermniated when they were found to be collaborators with the dark spawn of Pan Tang. It was thought that part of the family was wiped out a thousand years ago. Obviously, the Lords of Chaos sway held fast to one, and they hid somehow from the truth sayers of Light.
While the truthsayers are called for once again, the group must try and rescue the victim.

The group can seek out help from the lords of light or the grey lords. The ritual, if known, is something all wish to stop. They will divine that their is another (Chandara) of the family, a princess married to wealth who is travelling norht. Follow him and find him, he will lead you to the home of the Blighted Sky.

  14. Caravan encounter: She will try and bribe the party, claiming to have done so much good in the world and they do not understand what they do by interfering – that they are being manipulated.

She is being accompanied by the apprentice of the first mage. Skuhl is an evil, fey creature with no morals or principles. He will call the party fools and pawns. He will tell some that their own families worship the darkness and that even now the reapers sickle is sweeping the fields of their kin. After the assault, they should get a map from the caravan master.

  15. Map will take them to a town at the foot of a huge mountain range.
  16. Group should fins a way to get to the Dead Eerie and attack them.

A gentlemans club. It also hides a dark secret – the base hides the headquarters for the murderous Three Blades Wind cult.

Misc

Three Blades Wind

Loosely allied with Gloom Bringer. Only its most senior ranks attain this rumored affiliation in the top ranks. The rank and file are kept ignorant that they are really a breeding ground for cultists.

The Ritual

Only a fervent aderent of chaos can be sacrificed, but it must not be willingly, and they must not lose faith. This is an attempt to swell the oceans – flooding coastline and bring forth a fleet of sunken ships and dead sailors.
