Player: Brian Schorr

CLASS: FIGHTER

System: ADnD 1st Edition

His father was a slave freed from the tyranny of Scrape. He drifted down from beryl where he was a dock worker for a couple years. It was there that opportunity came along and he signed on as a permanent guard and laborer with a company moving to the Kingdom of Pern in the eastern borderlands. The caravan had to cross dangerous territory and was attacked by nomads from the Wailing Waste. The carvan was decimated and only he and a few other survived to take what was left and make something useful. The remainder took the caravan goods to Acriere. There, he made enough to open a shop. He bought many horses and ran mobile patrols for border farms and homesteaders. He expanded his business to include local herders and made a small amount of fame for himself. He married at 32, a woman named Julli, the daughter of a local well-off leather worker. She gave birth to Elger and his brother Midhan, who died in an accident in his 12th year. His father received a royal contract, and so Elger entered into his fathers business.
After several daring exploits, including preventing a major stampede amidst the kings herd, he was promoted to managerial roles. After 1 difficult season in particular, the King was so impressed that he offered him a commission in the royal guards as reward.

Soon, Elger rose to rank in the guards. He and his family were invited to a great feast. The attack on the palace of Pern comes during this meal time. Elger witnessed the death of his family and the king’s at the hands of the traitorous nobles of the Saraha and Wynther family – and the ultimate betrayal of Kerrig Varley, a famous lord of the south lands. The royal family is killed, the city gates are opened and the city is sacked by mercenaries.
The event was known as King Deneh’s Betrayal.
