The camp has been pretty quiet honestly – its getting to me you know. Look at these (he says pointing to his insignia of rank in the navy) – I’m a man of action! I’ve made sure the place is ship shape! I deserve to be transferred to a better place – where my leadership can show!
If the PCs can ply him with alcohol… [check-easy type=”skill” id=”” title=”Influence – Deception”]
Well, i’ve got no resources! I’d do something if i had some. As you know, we’ve had a few go missing – not desertion mind you, pay is too good, but missing during their shift. Not just us, but a few locals in The Leg (Ferrywood Leg he means) – livestock there have gone missing too.
The rumors of what is out there are spreading through the settlements around The Leg and camp. No Briarlaeyn, Beastlaeyn, High Priest, or the like to help. I’ve kept the disappearances quiet, rotated crews… (he snaps, looking around) I’ve used my own money for this! We dont need agitation, it takes months for new crews to get used to the fucking weirdness of the Southern Edgelands of the Forest of Rhyl and harvesting the trees – that takes money and time we don’t have. They told you, eh? Those fucking high and mighty Umbakians – they meddle and we suffer. Bah! The latest was Himmeldin Farm!
– Well, what orders do you have for me?
> With Himmeldin’s mother vanished, it took a lot of imported livestock and promises to quell the outcry for now.
From Himmeldin Farm –
Terry Himmeldin’s mother Freydan vanished trying to find a lost lamb as the sun was going down – they said she tracked it to the edge of the forest
An old woman with midnight black hair had come to the farm seeking a lost animal and talked to Freydan a few days before.
Sent riders looking for the woman and they never returned
> Aye, I figured. How am I supposed to keep dealing with this, can they not put a stop to the pressure from the bastards in Klyben?
> Where is my recompense! How much longer must I wait!? They said …
Foreman
Riders sent out by LT Shorelight never returned
The LT has required a crew change, citing security issues and spies from North Merchant Cities
One of the Crew Leads
Policy: Its still a logging camp, no matter how big but its not incorporated as a town – no homesteading or parceling, no administrative bureaucracy – just the LT representing the interests of the Navy of Rhyl, the Foreman _ (technically neutral in all things, but allied with the _ family.
The policy is that you are not allowed to have family here in camp.
Madam of whorehouse (Wandering MAureen), Madam Ella (5’9″, human, about 40, obvious blonde wig, blue eyes, club at her hip painted to look like fan, well dressed – for a logging camp; captive audience means steady income)
Two mercenaries (paid by the madame) work the main shifts and control 2 off rotation loggers looking for extra coin; These are armed with shortswords and club (property of _) when working.
The women (and men) that work in __ are their own bosses really. They rent the rooms and pay a monthly fee for the protection
A unruly looking black haired woman came a month ago and asked to make a trade – im a business woman, not a slaver. I dont own these girls, but this repulsive bitch insisted that i arrange for it. I did not ask what she wanted to trade with. I think she was drunk. She was certainly pushy. Never saw her again.
