Ill-Fortunes are the result of characters growing up under extreme circumstances or an accident. In the midst of war and conflict, slums & abject poverty, slavery, and other scenarios which seriously limit any chance of escape, movement, contact with others; Their sources and impact provide anxiety and hopeless days and nights. Ill-Fortune aspects should only be used by those wishing to add serious challenges to roleplaying their characters. No aspect of Ill-Fortune should be used lightly and are not considered part of a Best Practice approach. These aspects and their treatment should be resistant to simply being solved by a minor monetary expenditure – reducing the true impact and therefore negating penalties for easy rewards. The aspects can also be used to determine the result of some wounds.
