Kaldorphion System of the Gohrmliht Imperium

The planet Kaldorph (of the Gohrmliht Imperium setting) about twice the size of Earth, but cooler and older. Gravity is slightly above earth’s. The planet was terraformed over 200 years. Orrish raids began during this period, towards the end. Once settled, it had about 20 years of peace and prosperity before the Orrish raids began in earnest. By then, a massive influx of millions looking for new opportunities had come to the planet, turning into 400 million at last count – a great deal of them of old earth Russian descent. It was far away from normal Galactic Council military protection, the world struggled. The Orrish began a brutal campaign and occupied the planet for 50 years – treating the humans as slaves. The combined might of the Treelight Syndic (a Faerie power) and the Galactic Council’s United Planetary Fleet (UPF), backed by several corporate interests, were able to defeat the Orrish in Galactic Standard Period (GSP) 19004. For 20 years the planet has slowly come back to life, thriving on a mining industry. The terraforming is still going on, having never completely finished (estimate another 100 years for perfect atmospheric conditions), and the atmosphere is prone to violent storms and heavy rains. Few venture outside of established safe zones for fear of the thousands of Ork soldiers left behind in the Orrish retreat. The Imperium Militia (consisting mainly of local volunteers) has a strong presence above the planet, but leaves security matters on the surface to locals. The 3 main economic powers are corporate interests (lobbyists and presence), the local BM’s (Binding Multiples – a collective of family businesses from the settlement days; the Aidonnite Syndicate is a remnant of this system), and the Elven Council (but they keep mostly to their aquatic zones).

Indigenous Life: No advanced sentient life exists. There are insects, rodents, and plenty of flora. It is thought that perhaps the sea-going Buprion possesses the rudiments of sentience. They are like crocodiles, possess a cerebral cortex and all brain developments associated with advanced carbon life… even their webbed hands have considered grasping power and what’s left have even adapted to the terraformed environment (after a mass die-off).

Faerie Presence: The Faeries who settled in exchange for helping to free the planet settled along the coasts and in the seas.

Human/Faelen Presence: The humans dwell upon lands along the rivers and mountains.

Landau City
Landau City is considered by most to be the “capital” of the planet. There are no nations per se, just territories and governors. There are 2 other cities with large enough platforms and enough recovered cargo ways to serve as space ports.

Bithataen Breach
(“bith-a-tayin breach”) A section of the old quarter in Landau City where the old city walls were breached in a war with the Orrish (occupation ended 20 years ago), and the worst fighting took place. The locale is mostly walled off with spray ‘crete (put in place by Moyer Industrial – a company everyone loves to hate in “the breach”); the worst of the worst are consigned to its 3 square kilometer area and there is little law. It provides a place where such elements can compete and blow off steam, keeping them more isolated by the law on purpose. It abuts on one corner to Chaldors Peg – a “square” which is a spill-over place for the main traffic off the main highway of Allience (and where one of the heroic stand-offs in the last Orrish war took place!)- where it ends under half a kilometer right at the space port of Viclori. There’s a lot of smuggling to the spaceport through the breach. The place is run by the Aidonnite Syndicate.
