CY 553: Tyranus roams the world freely once again. After a period of nearly 100 years in which he and his followers displayed little influence over the world, there was a red beam a few miles from the city of Saltmarsh that flared into the sky, causing an earth quake that heavily damaged the surrounding area, causing the western passage of the Belis River to become disrupted and nearly impossible to navigate, yet leaving the smaller eastern passage nearly untouched. While this has proved beneficial for the trade around Saltmarsh itself, it has caused much political strife with the Monterran Empire and bodes ill fro peace.Around CY 519 troublesome auras and events took place near Saltmarsh and the followers of Tyranus became active again, leading a raid on Saltmarsh that appeared to end in failure. 30 years later, in CY 549 Tyranus broke free from his prison and began his conquests anew. Storms rage where none should and cults indulging in blood rituals have been more prevalent in the area. Only the domain of the Oldening appears to have been left mostly untouched.
Little is known of exactly who and what the varying Chaos Lords are or where they came from. They have been here for as long as humanity can remember, though whether they were here since the times of the wizard Orlec himself is left a mystery.
Tyranus himself is known to be a Celestial, though one of the greater powers amongst the varying Demi-Gods of the cosmos. Amongst the followers of the Chaos Lords it is known that he and his ‘siblings’ are not native to the world, but came here from another realm to bring their divine guidance to the denizens of Orlec.
When Tyranus first ‘ruled’ he was well received and asked little beyond worship and obedience, something that was easily tolerated. After the coming of Medjha (a short time before the adopted Common Year) gruesome battles raged and Tyranus gathered his ‘siblings’ in his efforts to put down the first true God within Orlec. Tyranus truly earned his adopted name, and demanded absolute loyalty, blood sacrifice, and slaughtered any in his path who refused to accept him as uncontested ruler. These turbulent times gave birth to the peoples name for the celestial trinity: The Chaos Lords.
