Hear-Ye! Hear-Ye! Read all about it! The Herald’s Quarterly. A semi-regular quasi-quarterly journal of events.
Set in Duchy of Dunstrand of the [Fantasy] Steel Realms, as a Living World storyline.
A great fireball appeared in the sky one night. The mystics and sages of Umbak call it a meteor – it lit up the night sky for 50 miles in all directions as it came in over Scar Flow. Water was vaporized and it appeared it was going to crash near the mouth of the river of Crestwold but it veered up and over – going dark about 10 miles over the center of the barony. A warm fog covered the west of Crestwold for hours in the night. There was no explosion or crater to mark whatever it was.
A new range of three small islands has emerged in the Westlight Reach of Umbak, off the Horseshoe coast. The earthquakes out of Scar Flow are striking Umbak and the Merchant Cities now. A quake off the coast caused a stranding of fishing vessels and some damage to the structures on the Shield Isles of Umbak, and shook the merchant city of Poelitz. The small isles are said to be sheer, of a strangely uniform shape and rumors have it they are topped by some ruins of the faerie that once dwelt in the ocean.
There was an earthquake in scar flow, one of many shaking the area for the last few seasons. A mild tsunami flooded some of the lowland towns of Bar-Innis and Richfield, and went up the river in Crestwold. There was a massive lightning storm storm that followed and strange, massive humanoid shadows were seen among the peaks of Scar Flow. Rumors say they are giants that dwell among the clouds.
Up and down the barony of Crestwold, the wound of wings has been heard. The wings are flying east now, out over County Faer. Rumors of a dragon and its rider are being whispered in the south of Dunstrand and Loamwold.
