The Baighent Family of Gladnor was one of the bloodlines that was part of the Lineages, Families, and NPCs of the Kingdom of Gladnor. The Baighent family was a cadet branch of the previous High King’s bloodline, but a series of hunter-assassins from _general_ drove them into hiding and the heir could not be found. The Baighent line assumed succession as stewards in CY 8012. It served for 48 years while the genuine bloodline heir fled north to Rhyl and was housed by the Tea Lodges – moved around and around, having heirs, and continuing the bloodline in secret. Eventually the hunters bred for the task died, and no more could be created.
Last: The last of the Baighent line of High Kings was Aerold Baighent in CY 8060. He was known as a great sponsor of the arts – merely holding the status quo of the realms together and trying to keep any political changes at bay was the family’s primary charge. Sadly, the plight of Barishnakhov the court’s dancer was not even seen by the High King’s guardians, and is the family’s legacy above their stalwart defense of the true High King’s lineage while it was in hiding. Aerold abdicated when the true heir returned.
The family has been a stalwart defender of the High King’s authority.
