Callyburg Family – Ducal Blood of Dunstrand
The Callyburg Family is the one-time rulers of Dunstrand Vale, and still important to the Culture and Traditions of Dunstrand. The Callyburgs and Forthrights are the roots of the peerage system that governs the different territories. There is a direct competition between the two, and constant intermingling of bloodlines such that both would be eligible for ducal descendant. This appears to keep them vying for power in a tense struggle that makes its enemies believe that Dunstrand could be pushed into political violence.
The Callyburg Family lost their overall place when the Westmarch of Dunstrand fell, and Scar Flow and Dwindor were made. The castle in the west end of the vale was cut off and abandoned.
Hidden Alliance: Both families have pledged alliance as a sacred oath to support the other in case a calamity happens to the ruler-ship of Dunstrand. On the surface, it is a rivalry, but away from political maneuvering is the alliance that truly makes Dunstrand tolerant and strong. The Callyburgs brought faerie blood into the lineage, making them slightly longer lived, and thus into the Forthrights. The genealogies are kept secure and away from prying eyes. Their alliance with the Wyld Faith secures this knowledge. The agreements, pledges, and alliances sewed through this are all kept locked away in the temple of Ssisslenn, on Cold Eye Lake in the Pranin Moorswood.
