Salt Blight of Yvaldar (Sea King magic)
The great high priest king Yvaldar used the most powerful magic of the goddess Elancil to create the Salt Blight. These great and powerful rituals salted land and rendered it unusable. The kings used this to form their empire, threatening coastal and river bordering territories with the blight unless they surrendered their sovereignty. The ability/knowledge to enact these powerful rituals was lost soon after The Sundering in CY 5000.
