Incarna Outcome Resolution Method (original; deprecated)

This material is not meant for Players or GMs; This is part of design, development and testing and is intended for that audience to assist in creating and assessing Incarna materials.

Status: USE 12-2002 to 6-2022 (original spread still in use)

Outcome scales represent both basic SUCCESS/FAILURE determination as well as a measure of Quality of Success. The Incarna Outcome Resolution method is 100% unique. It employs no other standard scales or approaches for Incarna (such as iSwift). It WAS the primary original (iCore) expression of the Incarna Outcome Resolution method. This represents the original expression of the concept and values – in use it may have been modified or expanded upon by GMs and creators.

Resolution Check = A single check using the full spread of 1-100% is made and compared to an outcome matching chart or table.

Negative Representation? None – penalizing mechanisms are dealt with external to the scale, though all levels will show equivalency if negative values are used.

Zero Representation? Elements using the game scale, but having no representation/expression, are labeled as “Failure“.

  1. Fumble: Worst possible outcome; critical non-success. Equivalent to -2 Measures. Triggers a mishap – possible fatigue, added time, or quality adj. on further attempts.
  2. Failure: The most common level of representation of NON-SUCCESS on the scale. Equivalent to -1 Measures.
  3. Simple; Equivalent to +1 Measures.
  4. Average; Equivalent to +2 Measures.
  5. Major; Equivalent to +3 Measures.
  6. Full; Equivalent to +4 Measures.
  7. Critical: The least level of representation of SUCCESS on the scale. Equivalent to +5 Measures.

Singular Representation? If an element exist of which there is only a single representation/expression, it is dealt with external to the scale.

Note: This was deprecated at one time in favor of the iSwift 3 success measure outcome. It was determined that the outcome operation was less suited using this method and the original was restored 12-2022.
