Trees grew taller and thicker in the Vale of the Black Sun. Their bark turned black. Where sunlight came through the canopy, they projected a shadow to fill the void, causing the forest floor to be in perfect darkness. Then the shadows grew like trees themselves, covering all natural things. It is from here, that the Blood Bleaking spread into the Ur-Fahyl and the Folk of Bronze.
Little did anyone know a small enclave of ancient elves had been caught in the Black Sun’s power. The shadows rose, forcing them to seek refuge in the earth. They hid and waited for everything to pass. All 123 were corrupted though, and their power grew immense when amplified by the connections to the Soul Tree in the Ur-Fahyl that they were growing.
Bleakfaey is the label given to them, for once the Lords of Bronze marched their tribes out of the Ur-Fahyl, their connection to the life of the great forest was severed and twisted – they had been made into vampires. Not just normal vampires, but something never seen before or after. They woke, and their hunger made them feral, violent beyond all reckoning, and ravenous. Lashing out in every direction, they slaughtered indiscriminantly. For hundreds of years they were hunted. Their deaths were only at the cost of sometimes hundreds of hunters. A few were killed in torpor when they overfed, and their bodies shut down to process the blood they had drank by the gallon. Tens of thousands died in their wake over time. All of them were sterile fortunately (in all ways – making other vampires too), though they were next to impossible to kill. It is their bond to the soul tree they were growing that the [undiagnosed] Bleakwhite Corruption into the soul trees of Ynth comes from.
These elves venerated only death. Of any creature. The last was put down in CY 7341.
