Speljan was once a beautiful town, situated near iron and coal deposits. A stream ran through one part of town that was fed from a hotspring, and three vacation villas were raised in the short few centuries it was active. The town was home to the villa of the famous artist named Saldeveer. A sculptor of some fame, he used local clays and stone from the moors. When the quakes finally drove everyone out of the moors, the town partially sunk in a series of sinkholes. Saldeever was lost in one of the collapses. It is said originals probably still exist, waiting for someone brave to claim them.
The keep/tower of Aela stood 65 feet of the tallest point of town, with a small walled fortification. Cracked and broken, the tower has withstood most of the forces that broke the town. Atop the tower was a massive lends, and a wizard who studied the stars. It is said that sometimes the silhouette of the wizard can be seen staring up into the darkness.
