Deadiron (The Cold Suffering)

Steel Realms

Deadiron is metal melted down from the original armaments of the fallen forces of the Dundarian kingdom. The quench is the blood and tears of the soldiers and servants that were killed initially in the fall where thousands of animations of zombies and skeletons were made. No Deadiron was ever produced after that. It properties consist mostly of the horrific memories of those made into the Lich Lords’ soldiers. When touched, it can drive the living to madness. It is a powerful concentrate of magical power in the suffering and horror of those who were killed in its making or quenching. The standards of the Lich Lord’s armies are made from this. Special agents of the Lich Lords are given weapons made form this.

There have been attempts over time to somehow use this metal. Those in the darkness and light have been unable to safely find a way to bend the fell magics contained therein to their will – it can only be used in service of removing life from the living. Grasping and trying to wield a weapon made of this will scar the wielder and perhaps lead to permanent madness.

Death Allure: Undead may grasp items made of this without any severe impact. Those truly evil and homicidal may also do the same, though prolonged contact/exposure will likely drive the user to even more extreme violent and terrifying behavior (eating sentient flesh, torture, etc.).

Encountering

Items made from this will give off a vague sense of unease from a distance, and disgust for those not feeling the Death Allure. Wisps of noxious tendrils, the spiritual hands of the murdered seeking the comfort of the living, can sometimes been seen to come from the metal. When a strong wind blows, it will carry faintly the mournful sobbing and ravings of those who died in its quenching.

As you grasp the object, your head is filled with the screams of thousands. Memories flash, folk being skinned alive, slowly drained of blood, and forced to watch other eats pieces of themselves as they are wracked by torture and an attempt to maximize and prolong their suffering. The agony and insanity are overwhelming. You find yourself contemplating things that seem impossible or ridiculous in the haze of agony and suffering. You know that before you could even attempt to ‘tame’ these memories, the worst experiences are yet to come.
