Lucky says the party owes him for involving him and nearly losing his ship. He sends a note, though he’s departed permanently thinking the party has fallen apart and is no longer a threat. He is trying to get them killed.
NOTE > We’ve been through a lot and now there is nothing but memories. I mean, I’m not perfect, but really, my livelihood you fucked with too much. It’s impossible to get everything ship-shape again. But I know what your character is, and I leave you with this. WE have a problem that taking care of will benefit both of our souls. So, your group… squad… team… whatever, pointed out some crew members with some odd behaviors and connections. Yea? Skulking around, strange meetings, maybe a little property theft. Well, I think I figured it out. It’s not going to surprise you to know that some of the crew at least offer to Elancil, to keep away the bad weather and such. I let them openly perform their prayers… but I think it’s this that’s gone too far. I think they are part of a fanatical cult. We both know that the mistress of storms has kinda had it out for you folks personally. I think they are linked to that – eyes on the prize so to speak. I’ve had them followed… with not good results. They appear to support slavery, and they been stealing little things and given it to the others outside my circle. They are no longer part of my crew. What we are talking about here is SLAVERY! Slavery? Yea, a bit of it comes through. It may surprise you, but around here the destination is Umbak. Young women as nannies and house servants – not as bad as it could be. Yea, Umbakian law says its illegal, but many of the noble families still foster the old ways of indentured servitude. I’m not one for trafficking, but I know some folk who do and these two made a stop there – my old competition I just cant seem to kill. I won’t now, but you can put an end to this and make a final stab at my old enemy. I hope you take me up on this… They left when i did and said they were taking a week’s furlow with the repairs on your ship. They went east, looking for some new land-lubbers to fleece in gambling is the rumor – but i know better. I went through their stuff. If they are members of a cut-throat cult of Elancil, I needed to know. Normally, that’s taboo, but I can’t risk the whole crew for them two. I found their grotesque holy symbols – proof enough for me. They are in the chest that comes with this letter. When you catch them, kill them before they can recruit more fanatics to their goddess. But… uhh… Like, don’t kill them in or near a decent sized body of water unless you want to see them again. Get it? Anyway, here, I brought them for you to see yourself. I’ve already removed their footlockers (they are in the sea chest), told the crew they mustered out. So, this kinda has to happen before they get wind of it. I may be back in a few months, but not as a home port any more. You can even have the lockers, and whatever’s in ‘em. A bonus.
Really he is sacrificing 2 elancil followers before they try and do the same.
Coming back as zombies; 2 sailors (cultist); if they die in water risen as zombie revenants
F4 > AC 14; 31, 34 hp; long sword, dagger; action surge, second wind
The locks are picked and poison dye removed. Clothes, 200sc in goods, gaming supplies, cups, pin, sash, spare tentacled holy symbol of Elancil (they can be used as Offering).
As the party tracks east, a pair of peddlers who came along the black shore will admit to seeing them. They hid from everyone, but these guys made a hot camp and talked about going to Mev – a deaf man would’ve heard. Not east! The safe road to Mev is east for 3 days then cut north over dry land for another couple days. The Black Shore you risk wash-outs and moor cats.
They hire the square (telling them LRS is evil, an agent of Gwinn) and leave, saying they are going east, but secretly taking a swamp skiff back south. They will probably beat the party back and Lucky will have to attack them as they present themselves. The crew will say it was self defense but some will admit Lucky made the first move as they both came at him at once.
