Preservation (Code)
Preservation is a Code of Conduct (presenting good role-playing opportunities for reward) that binds a character to preserving the well-being of a {target}; This is often directed toward flora and/or fauna. This code is often used as part of Tenets to one degree or another.
The character seeks to exclude a {target} from harm of any kind. In addition to seeking to do no harm, they actively seek to preserve the reputation and well-being of the {target}.
Preservation Code Elements
- Avoidance: They will not fight, injure, deface, defame, or seek out for potential harm or entrapment of the {target} or its typical group or place of safety.
- Protection: They must intervene if they observe others planning or attempting to unnecessarily harm the {target}.
- Retribution: Where cruelty is being practiced on the {target}, they will be honor bound to prevent it, moving the {target} out of harms way, and punishing the perpetrators.
- Freedom: They will not hold leverage over, enlist, or force the {target} into any service. Any use of or service provided to the follower by the {target} must be voluntary, limited in duration, and compensated. When others do it, they are bound to try and free or unencumber (by compensation, or other means if unavailable) unless it is more detrimental to the {target}.
