The Fallen Lightbringer Monastery of Ablocris adventure is a low challenge exploration the allows the group to explore the ruins of the Monastery of Ablocris and the surrounding lands that were sacked over a hundred years ago. Those who lay claim on the lands currently would like a definitive explanation of the strange things associated with it, and to make sure there are no squatters or unknown dangers before sending out a full force of re-settlement activities.
On your way out of camp, as you walk to the Roads’s End Pasture, you are approached by a older woman who walks with you. “I hope you found what you came for… there’s a lot of folks who are nervous. Those that need to know what you are doing.” She puts a small, leather wrapped parcel into your hands, “You know when to just shut up and claim what is yours, eh?” Then the figure moves off in another direction, trying to lose herself in the crowd.
Assuming the PCs accept her gift, she moves off. She avoids arguments or protestations. Inside the parcel are silver buttons, buckles, costume jewelry, a few crystalline nick-knacks, money and cheap jewelry. It totals about 100 sc when added up. Its pretty obvious a ‘pass the hat’ from some of the locals – mostly the brothel judging by the contents. This includes a ‘gift certificate’ for a free night for one of the group.
BARGAIN NOTE > The hag has given a gift, the PCs will accept and this is the precedent for finding them next several gifts and the PCs accepting them as well, hence entering into the compact with the hag.
Ahead, off to one side about 50m stands a lone white horse. It seemingly has full gear, with no rider to be seen or camp site nearby.
The horse obviously belongs to a specific rider. It seems it is still waiting for them, but you sense it’s more just comfortable with its rider and not a trained constraint; Could be switched to a PC.
There are obvious tracks that show the horse was attacked from ambush and that someone came off the horse and it ran. The tracks vanish as if someone cared they were making them at some point.
> Pick up tracks leading to the treeline far off.
Once inside the treeline, the tracks become obscured and you lose them. You begin to search for the trail once again.
You find something that at first you believe is a dropped gemstone, but it turns out to be hard candy. Definitely out of place. You find a few more in searching and realize someone is probably dropping them to follow their path. After accumulating several of the hard candies, the extraordinary trail ends at a rock escarpment.
There will be some evidence of a camp. The PCs will have to search again to find the next clue/gift.
Circling around and searching, you eventually pick up the trail, more fresh, heading west along the treeline. There is a rock ridge to your right. Among the rocky base, you lose the trail once again, but after a while you look up and find a yellow-blue sash hinging down from above. You will have to climb.
The climb and acquisition should seem dangerous and potentially an ambush. Finding the sash’s coloration indicates they were a diplomat of some kind.
There is an empty cave about 40 high up climb. It shows signs of some habitation off and on for a long time, but no supplies and no further trail or evidence.
Insight dc 25: Hag? I have given you these things! Hag = There is a bargain!
This will seal a bargain between the hag and the group.
