Most species are adapted to a home system or world environment and cannot, without modification or technology, adapt to more Diverse and Challenging Environments. Those that possess neither super or hyper adaptive qualities seek environments more life their native/home worlds. It does not mean they cannot, it just indicates that it’s not a drive or proclivity they have expressed overall as a species.
Some species are super adaptive, having the physiology to more easily adapt and survive in environments more extreme than their “home” systems and worlds.
Some species, like humans, are hyper adaptive. Even if they do not possess super adaptive physical traits, their general thought processes push them into settling anywhere they can. This is typically to exploit a region of resources and/or secure a certain level of independence and freedom.
