It’s a ruin that they were given instructions for and that they spent a month digging out. It is seen as a place for the smugglers to store goods between Lilymarch and Crestwold and they are looking to expand into Lilymarch. Additionally, through the agents of Elancil, they are now arming the militant band of Troglodytes. They have begun working with the Mud Viper criminal gang of Richfield to smuggle further afield for bigger profit – thinking of becoming part of their operation.
Smugglers of Crestwold, once Lucky Red Scarf left the area, aggressively returned. With the truce a lot of surplus military goods is being smuggled and funnel through the area. The connection with the outside agency in the trade battle has brought them to actually set up a cooperative with some of their agents in Lilymarch and Richfield. The only place they have not been able to get a foothold in is the lowlands of Bar-Innis. Otherwise they control the coast. They brought in a dozen dwarves to shore up the ruins who all agreed to leave their enclave and strike out far away for they would have knowledge of a trade depot that was being raised in secret. They were murdered and some of their bones animated by the rat god priest who had been enlisted under the sect of Lekam. Part of this old Umbakian outpost was stored and new stone walls were made and camouflaged to ensure that water did not get into some of the areas. It wasn’t meant to last forever, just for 20 years or so. They were initially contacted by Lucky as an agent of Elancil and brought to the area to be secretly introduced to his old competitor. Nobody knows of Lucky’s involvement except the priest of Lekam himself. The area has been laid with traps from the Mud Vipers, a gang known to run much of the illicit trade through Richfield and West River run with ties all the way up to Karolak in the North Merchant Cities. They are notorious for their trap making capabilities. They have a motto that’s basically one good trap is worth three bad men.
