Generally, they Troglodytes are understood to be a species that is a form of newtling. Having draconic descent, they are capable of binding to and sensing their parental entities. Clutches of these have been started on many worlds, and they share a small reflection of the same aspects of humanoid Faeybrin culture. A savage expression of ancient newtlings – a baser form of reptilian. They are cave dwellers, dwellers in the dark. They prefer warmer climes, but can survive in colder, shallow cave complexes. Their frills gather heat when extended. They are more primitive and violent than the more serene Lizard Folk (which they will clash with when encountering each other). They always struggle with catching up to their more advanced cousins.
Elite Troglodyte: Some of the societies of these creatures develop an elite warrior cult that worships their parent entities. They have learned to use their tail as a whip, wear a harness with sharpened rocks to be thrown, and their shamans make a poison from their stench glands of the dead. This keeps away predators in the water and on land.
Sometimes troglodyte hatchlings are morphed into the strange rays (with the intelligence and tribal bond of a troglodyte) to be used as guards and watchers of the young. Usually that are made through ceremony by their holy men and altering freshly impregnated females.
