Faith is a character’s connection to a greater [divine] force; one which manifests or symbolizes the highest ideals & principles of their beliefs. This force may be embodied as a collective or singular divine Principle (an entity, deity, or deities) or presence, which are a fount of power and focal point of worship. Faith may focus on principles, ideals, behaviors, places, actions, or even an elemental manifestation given significance by a faith’s tenets. The power of this force stems from the belief and reverence from living things, especially followers. Followers typically organize themselves in an institutional body to more easily promulgate their message and beliefs. The nature of each follower’s relationship with their faith is reflected in their consecrated state of grace, which in turn allows them to demonstrate mystical powers in service to the faith and gain converts. Using faith effectively requires faith ability, conviction, and a pool of synergy. All of a followers basic needs rely on the Markings of Faith:
For obligations of fees, tithes, and other promissory support elements it is often necessary for a character to contribute monetary value to the operations of the sect or faith they are part of to remain in Good Standing and enjoy/retain its benefits. The PCs must assess the obligations based on the expected share – make it as fair as possible. Authorities are likely to do an occasional review to make sure they are getting a fair share. Monetary obligations may go to get someone else to fulfill the obligations, allowing the character to get out of institutional duties – ministry, teaching, training, bureaucratic tasks, etc. The expectations of their obligations should be very clear and consistent.
