Called Urace by the folk of The Saelish. To the Umbakians, it is known as Pavecia, renamed based on the fortress name and family name of those given to control it.
Population: 5,800 + Garrison of 300 cavalry and crossbowmen
Fort Pavec was the first successful incursion of Umbak into Dunstrand across the river. It gained some notoriety a couple hundred years ago by being the scene of a bloodbath. A band of adventurers
assaulted to fortress, and in her bloodlust, the High King’s ranger named “String” lost her rangerhood when she decided to stay behind after rescuing the kidnap victim and massacre Umbakians. She killed 2 dozen before running out of arrows and being dragged away be her companions.
In the years following, Umbak built up the defenses and began to use it as a raiding base. The fortress keep guards the Pavec bridge – the only place to cross over the Andrus River for dozens of miles in either direction.
The fortress and land is named after the Pavec family of Umbak – they were granted to leave to push across the border by the king. Though it has taken a few hundred years to make significant inroads, Pavec still barely make a profit – the upkeep of soldiers is high and costly.
