This road was a major trade route that the Athla Trade Road took at one point. It went in an almost straight line between the old cemetery east outside of Athlapoole and Serdof. It made one bend north and skirted the edge of the Athla Hills to avoid a small lake – Lake Grothe (more of a large, shallow pond about 20 acres in coverage). Along that bend, when the Grimmdowns struck, it caused a collapse and the entire road was blocked between the base of the hills and lake shore. During the time of the Grimmdownms, anyone traveling on the road would have a mount of themselves twist an ankle, get sick, be hit by a rolling stone, or some other strange and unlikely event. It is called the “Broken Step Cut”.
