South Richfield (of Dunstrand)

Steel Realms

A region of the Earldom of Richfield. Mostly a dangerous flood plain, but the harvests are bountiful due to the rich soil.

Places

Paddington

A small bit of river trade from Gnedport in Bar-Innis makes Paddington the center of the south. A population of 800, it is the only large population center in all of the south. All trade into Bar-Innis comes through here, and there are a few mines in Redfen that take their wares out via Paddington. A surrounding agriculture population of 100 or more makes the town’s legally claimed authority a much larger area than normal as it does provide protection for those under its watch.

Village of Kellsfall

This village of 350 is all that remains of a the Township of Kellstead. The city was claimed by the swamp, but later drained of its own accord. The Earl of Van Der Kell, supported by the Riverdan Lord of Benfreyim, resumed his rightful seat after 300 years. The remains were renamed by then, by the settlers that came and the Earl was forced to accept the new one. His titles were reduced to Viscount, though the family still refers to their head as ‘Earl’ – though they must pay fealty to the Earl of Richfield. The Van Der Kells are a cadet branch of the Forthrights, which merged with the Dunstrand family ages ago; they ae considered near-royalty of Dunstrand and even more legitimate rulers by some (troublemakers).

Sunset Castle (ruins; Scar Flow)

Once the seat of Dunstrand Vale, before The Sundering. It stood watch against the Sea Kings lands and their militaristic expansions. Now, it still rises out of the swamp in plain view, but its walls are crumbling, undermined by the bogs around it and the disasters which befell the vale, and its a dangerous place for any visitors. Many a treasure seeker has explored its ruins over the years and never returned. Its said that ghosts of the dead and live Orrish haunt its darkened corridors.
