Mcaelway family (of The Saelish)
[
Notable folk of The Saelish ] This family is one of the Granted Title Holders of The Saelish. In order to integrate the non peerage culture, the ducal authority appointed three hereditary “Lords of Saelisnea” (the appointed representative from
Nasaeles,
Mcaelway, and
Mcbraen is titled is “Lord”), with this family as one. These “lords” were patriarchal family heads at the time of a small pocket of people related to the ancient Lords of Bronze. They were not granted lands as part of their title, other than the ones they currently had and those they increased their holdings with legally, under the normal peerage system. These three families were to represent The Saelish in the council of the Earl of Bar-Innis, and directly to the Duke of Dunstrand, when required. While they may have no real authority as Landsmen at any given time, they are the representatives to the political assembly of Bar-Innis and speak with the will of the Landsman council if they know it. The “
New Lords” have a place on the local
Landsmen council as advisors, the same as the Granted Title Holders, but hold less sway.
Family Crest/Symbol: black antlers over bar sinister white, and bar right spear with bronze tip
