Winter is one of the most sacred times of peace and serenity in the Lilylands, and with it comes the festival of The Waiting of Germaena. The weather tends to keep people inside most of the time along the border of Scar Flow. It is the time of the goddess Germaena, Lady of Earth, as a seasonal manifestation of the Grey Feather Calendar. As the weather is usually cold and rainy, and days shorter, much of the celebrations are held indoors and/or under cover (unlike the spring and fall festivals).
Dates and Locations: Winter Solstice, in the Lilylands; The biggest are in Bergen, Lily Rush, and Torrelson’s Ford.
Festival Judges: Typically a selection of settlement senior officials, and any notable practitioners and last years winners (assuming they are not participating in the events of the current year).
Sewing: As the cold months set in and the days grow shorter, the sewing of heavy warm clothes and covers ramps up. A quilting contest is typically part of the festival.
