Crafter’s Mark: The use of an item made by a famous and recognized crafter (or their guild/trade/school) may also be the equivalent of a Prestige Marker.
D20 Blacksmithing
The Blacksmith trade skill uses Smiths Tools, having 10 applications, reducing the applications available by 1 per use. It allows you to: (per Xanathar’s Guide to Everything page 85)
- Basic Smithing Knowledge:
- The properties and uses of various metals
- Mining connections – the basics of finding and extraction
- How to manipulate and utilize fire
- How to spot quality items from inferior ones
- Arcana and History: Your expertise lends you additional insight when examining metal objects, such as weapons. Without a Lore to explicitly cover such, no Proficiency Bonus is granted, though the attempt can be made.
- Investigation: You can spot clues and make deductions that others might overlook when an investigation involves armor, weapons, or other metalwork.
- Repair: With access to your tools and an open flame hot enough to make metal pliable, you can restore 10 hit points to a damaged metal object for each hour of work.
Repairing Armor and Weapons: A “war-smith” is experienced with the quality of metals used to make armor and weapons. A specific Lore is required to gain this knowledge and get the Proficiency Bonus on checks.
Restore: For half the Standard Item general cost of crafting, the following properties can be returned to their normal state (for the item): Resilience, Fit, and Durable. Resilience can be restored for (per measure)
- Light Armor: 20%
- Medium Armor: 10%
- Heavy Armor: 5%
