Nakria, Empire of the Steel Realms

Steel Realms
Located on Ustermaya .
Nakria is ruled as a Empire when forces from without put pressure on it. Like anywhere else, geographical locations have different societies and cultural specifics, but the tribes can be summed up as 2 distinct paths for Nakrian Characters: Those who have succumbed to giving up the path, and Those who practice the nearly forgotten old ways and are trying to achieve a “Higher Order”. The peoples of Nakria speak an ancient tongue – Nakrehan – old before the coming of the Blood of Saemon. The Nakrians hate all northerners, whom they blame for the Nhak ru bethet nu osco, loosely translated as "the dark of night in the day", a curse upon the lands brought by strangers.

Nakria is a faded memory from the ancient time of Nakreha. Greater now though in size and power than it once was.

The great empire of the south, known as Nakria, spans the entire southern hemisphere. It is the oldest settled ’empire’, its people the oldest blood in the realms, they are the natives of the Steel Realms, or "Life Bowl" (loosely translated) as they call it. The Nakrian Imperial Lands are vast, and technically consist of not a single empire, but many territories. It has only come to be considered an Empire in the last few thousand years – and only operates as such to keep the encroaching other species from making more inroads. Some of these are controlled by the Nakrians, others by newer, non-Nakrian tribes. These tribes share the same blood as the ancient Nakrians, but refuse to cultivate the traditions of the old tribes, are solidly in the camp of empire, and are bent on expansion and growth. The Nakrians dislike all northerners, whom they blame for the Nhak ru bethet nu osco, loosely translated as "the dark of night in the day", a curse upon the lands brought by strangers.

Nhak Ria means "dark Man" in their tongue, and hence the name given to it by its northern neighbors. The first contact the north had with this vast empire was via the Sea Kings early voyages, before their empire was formed. The rise of the ‘Nakrian empire’ on their northern boundaries coincided with that of Gladnor’s. By the time Dunador was settled and Umbak officially made a sovereign kingdom, Nakria had come together under one war chief and was importing ideas from the north at a rapid pace. The loose confederation constantly is kept together by war and combat. Countless petty local nobles and raiders raise up "kingdoms", win a few battles and are eventually crushed. Such is the tide of events for thousands of years in Nakria. Occasionally a ruler will unite the tribes and forge north, or east. The Dark Lands keeps a healthy distance from established borders, which they defend viciously. The Nakrians magi are master conjurers, and some of the Sea King’s knowledge of conjuring came from them.

Of all places in the realms, the sling is used here more than any, although the Nakrians do not tend to manufacture bullets, they use both short and long slings.
