The Tower Lands… The greatest of the Keepers of the Tower Sanctuaries was Balin Gosh – known as the Lord of Four Towers. Those especially loyal to the south and guarding the Tower Lands were given a Ring of Towers Splendor.

Ruler: None – ruins and abandoned. Rumored to be used by the High King’s rangers.

Along the border of the great chasm, the watch towers were originally erected during the start of the reclamation times. Each was built with their massive beacons to warn all those who could see it (and each tower could see the next if the beacon was lit) of impending attacks – Orrish from the black fens would travel at the bottom and try and surprise territories, bandits from the desert, dog brothers, and petty warlords. Demons would also occasionally rise from the depths of the Cosheus Abyssal (Chasmlands) and the populace nearby would have to be warned. The Tower Lands are so named because each tower commanded a portion of accompanying land. Each tower also was a center for Reclamation efforts. Over the years, the reclamation efforts failed and slowly the Tower Lands had to be abandoned. Many epic struggles were waged in these places, for they were the focal point of light and dark powers alike. Many a brave defender was given a Ring of Tower’s Splendor. Now, it is said that the lands are inimical to powers of both sides – nothing ever happens there, and all who seek treasures of its past are never heard from again.

Current State: The formal Title ‘Tower Lands’ once applied to all the territories watched over by the towers, but now only to the few western most towers that still have most of their structures standing.

Guards of the flame

The guardians were those which manned the watch towers in constant vigil. Chosen among the soldiers for their keen senses, sense of duty, and stamina they were responsible to keep the watch towers stocked, and to light the fires as soon as trouble came. They were often the target of fell magics, seduction, bribe and other forms of control or deception on the part of the evil which would smash the watch towers and overrun the north. It is said that some of them carried with them rings, depicting their tower, which could start the tower fires without spark or flame.

Those who would light the tower beacons were infused with the power of elemental fire. Many were said to be seduced by it, and could not leave their duty behind, dying and being buried near the beacon was typically their last wish. Some were said to hold other minor powers, paid for by land owners near the tower’s protection when the rings were made.
