At its height, many metal short spears were made in the Fortress of Tortuga (fallen east) by Ducateon smiths and given to the houses of the east. The still carry a high price.
Common Knowledge: In the times when the east fell, the great fortress of Tortuga was an armory famed for its human and Ducateon collaboration. Although not mystic in any way, their forging secrets are not copied by Ducateon now in rememberance for their sins. Any Ducateon smith is honor bound to repair one of the ‘lances’ in penance for the horrible betrayal of humans when the fortress fell… at no cost (though some may grumble and try and deceive the wielder). They all have a red stripe through the point.

Most of these were lost. Many families that made the journey west brought these with them, but hid them in shame for the trust that was broken. There are perhaps hundreds in family collections,
and it was only around CY 7000 that it became acceptable to carry them with pride once again.
