Aleaas was the daughter of a Freelander warlord. The rose to prominence around 9010 CY. She was a duelist – flamboyant and intolerant of the wealthy and those who looked down their noses. She learned to dress like them, spoke like them, and lured them into duels. Eventually she was set up in turn, and died outlined in Faerie Fire when a wizard and his best friend ambushed her. She cursed her own shield with her dying breath. Upon it is the stern visage of her father whom she swore would watch them with disdain if they were take her honored fighting weapons. They were dumped in a river she she was buried in an unmarked grave. They are a matched pair – as long as the shield is whole so will the blade be; it does not age or rust but it is just a normal rapier (bejeweled 2000 silvers worth but it will break the magic if they are taken out). The rapier and shield rested in a curio shop in Karolak, a front to the wizards Order of the Stone Hand run by Paul Dorn. A man bought it in 9160 CT and it was never heard from since.
