Nerislin the Seeress

Steel Realms

One of the Seeress’ assumed the mantle of the Witch of Dwindor Swamp – a quasi-divinity. With this combined power, the daughters of Volgadas launched a long term plan to right a balance that had been upset, and that threatened to tear the realms apart. The power of mighty Nanford and Dwindor – an entity unto itself – fueled this ambition.

Nerislin is perhaps the least well known of the Witch-Seers of Volgadas. Much is rumors and whispered musings. Blind but can see, can see the future, cannot be harmed by mortal weapon, drinks nectar and consumes fires to keep her warm. She is even said to be tattooed in the manner of the Pine Tribes – who it is said venerate her as a witch and a consort to the ‘north wind’ (some god or nonsense like that). It is said she can heal by touch and gave birth to herself. Since soon after The Sundering, there have been persistent rumors of a great witch said to inhabit Dwindor Swamp and her, her daughter, or some offspring was said to have taken residence there.

Nerislinai the Spirit of Nanford: The Seeress had a child with the Duke of Dunstrand, producing a part-mortal construct of the great seeress named Nerislinai. This spiritual construct watched over the swamp and that which must be guided nearby for thousands of years. Nerislinai gave birth to itself over and over, and the last reigned for 180 years and found at last a link with the nearby nobility in Sandovhal Aelishan of Bar-Innis in Dunstrand in CY 9130’s. This construct was the thing that folk called the Witch of Dwindor, while Nerislin chose to return to Lahasha, so sleep until the time that Dunstrand shall rise and restore the Steel Realms to balance and provide the means to combat the eternal night.

Dunstrand Rising Living World

Set in Duchy of Dunstrand of the [Fantasy] Steel Realms, as a Living World storyline.
Added Story Elements:

Geraldine Aelishan of Bar-Innis – A magus of great power turned vampire but managed to avoid the Lich Lords control through the bond with Dwindor.

Aruna Grath-Malor (pledged only); of House Malor – a lich seeking power (bound to Anemru) tricked into believing she would ascend and instead slain by the fallen celestial she had stole power from.

Anemru (fallen Celestial) – had taken of the essence of Geraldine in killing her.

Lahasha: This is said to be an ancient shrine to an ancient, forgotten god that was there on the Aaldian Plateau before the coming of the Blood of Saemon. Lahasha is a place in the north, everyone seems to have heard of but no one knows how to get to. It is said that it is a Shrine to Aerna now, and has properties of healing and easing pain, including painful memories.

Other whispers say it was as old as the oldest in the north, and at one point it was a gathering place for the Mystics of Aerna – the long vanished brotherhood of magi and priests in service to peace. Little is known of this place, except that it is well hidden well in the snow and ice, and is a holy place where pilgrimages are supposedly made to.
