Ilyria (fallen grand Duchy of Vyborg)

Steel Realms
Located on Ustermaya .

The territory of Ilyria was the most NW territory of the Kingdom of Dundaria. “Fallen” Ilyria – Part of the north conquered by the Winter Host when it was the Duchy of Vyborg under the King of Dundaria, reclaimed by and adventurer and self-styled king, and conquered again – it is of little value and since the curse of forever-winter has covered it and with the rise of the Blue Wall, not even the Lich Lords bother much with sending their minions there. As such, those of the north fight to claim it as their own land and continue to try and figure out a way to secure its fertile, secure hill valleys. What few survive here, try and adhere to the Freelander Way, but survival often overrides it.

Last Ruler Before Fangedfrost: Kiril Vyborg

The northern reaches of Dundaria were under the banner of the Duke of Vyborg. The Vyborg clan was a closely knit family and peoples. The current Duke Vyborgian enjoyed a long line of successful rulers for nearly a thousand years. The River Voolga rolled through the central valley of Gnush, sometimes flooding the fertile plain, but the farmers had long ago made ways of dealing with it to their advantage. With the fall of the north, and the rise of the Blue Wall, the river dried up and the lands are covered in hushed silence.

Kingdom of Ilyria: A few generations after the fall of the North and death of northern nobility, Much of Vyborg was re-settled as the Kingdom of Ilyria, which in turn was lost when its ruler passed and there was not enough strength to hold against the Winter Host and winter crept over the lands permanently.

Only a few generations after the northern nobility was slain, and previous to the entire north being encased in the curse of the Winter Host, part of what was once the Duchy of Vyborg, an adventurer rallied the people and carved out the Kingdom of Ilyria. For a while, he fought the Winter Host to a stand still – even reclaiming land conquered. Eventually this powerful self-made king fell unto death, and was suborned by the Lich Kings and murdered his own family and his kingdom was torn asunder and afflicted with the forever-winter.
