County Haydens Reach of Dunstrand
‘The Reach’ is a mostly empty stretch along the northern boundary. Its steppe and grazeland for the cattle and horses of Dunstrand and where families raise them, and farms where possible. The Duke pays a small stipend to help hire mercenaries to defend against the Pine Tribes and Merchant City incursions. The best cavalry horses of Dunstrand come from here.
Ruler: Count Mar Chestea; family Chestea; The Chestea line goes back a great way, and is infused with the wild plains elven bloodline from a millennia ago (their ruling blood is known to sometimes live to 200!). While predominantly male, the eldest rules is the odd Chestea way – often widows outliving their husbands and taking the reigns of rulership.
