A History of Technology in Umbak

Steel Realms

Umbak is by far and away the nation most dedicated to the ideals of law, and has been the center of science and technology in the Steel Realms for thousands of years. The progress of science and technology is actively fought against by forces of Helca is denoted in the general Science and Technology on Helca. In Umbak, the record keepers of Ikribu keep all knowledge of science and tech at Tinkers Hall. The manifestations of technological creations is a deeply guarded secret, duplicates of everything are held by the archivists of the High Temple of Ikribu. ORDER IS THE HIGHEST IDEAL. The Scientific Method has slowly evolved with the calamitous events on Helca always robbing the inhabitants of excess time and money in order to rebuild… the progress has been slow but steady. The Year of the Firewheel in CY 8431 where the warlord Jansh ravages the southern Merchant Cities using a manifestation of technology may have earned mechanists and machinists a bad reputation generally, but in Umbak it caused them to be supported. Umbak’s efforts to bring forward technology were not deterred, and they vowed to continue their explorations to ensure their safety. Outside of this, they actively seek out the sect of The Friendless to join them, or stamp out their reckless investigation.

Stonework

The Umbakians are known for their polished stonework, with etchings and seemingly poured into moulds. It is a chemical process which mimics the Ducateon Dumat Liques technique – which has ever been exactly replicated. It is quite toxic, but in recent centuries bulk processing has allowed it to be used for mining and cutting rock en-mass.
