How Brightswell got its Nickname

Steel Realms

For nearly a century after its fall, each evening, the ruins would glow with the power of the Lightbringers during the night. The light would shine bright, then dim, as if the tower was breathing and it was its rhythm. In fact, its crumbling walls, and even some area in its light around the town at its base, became a safe shelter for travelers who could be assured of a night with the worst the darkness had to offer not sneaking up on them – the tower halo would flicker and make an electrical jolt if enemies of the Lightbringer (Orrish and undead) were near – waking them from their sleep. Until the ruthless knight Eaton Lightram came and cleansed the ‘evil’. Without an enemy to defend against, the protective light dimmed to near darkness and it became shunned. Every now and then, on 2 holy days of the Lightbringers, the tower halo lights up brilliantly again at sunset and fades over the night until dawn.
