Suffering Shard

Steel Realms

The only thing commonly known is that there was a piece of the blade Stonecutter which was never found, after it was broken in defending Oerdney against the Lich Lords personal assault. From this piece was formed The Suffering Shard. It is rumored to be an object touched by the shadow of one of the Lich Lords, and to have the deep cold of the grave surrounding it. It is a light pick of all metal – seemingly all one piece. As a pick, it has the standard properties of the weapon.

Those possessing it long enough begin to have terrible dreams – a single month cycle seems to bond the item to the owner in some way.

Item Powers (common and Attuned) can be found under Common Knowledge tab.

Pervasive Knowledge / Very Easy Difficulty

Back when the captain of the Black Gorgons died defending the capital Oerdney against the lich lord armies, the legendary blade Stonecutter was broken when the keep gate fell in on itself killing many men. The blade was broken into 6 shards. Of these, 5 were found and used in its reforging process. The sixth was found to be useless in re-forging it because it was grabbed by one of the Lich Lords themselves – robbing it of energies. The blade shard is from the left part of the front tip. It is jagged and has many notches from being used to block heavy items. The outline of a skeletal hand covers part of it where it was grasped. One end is embedded in a piece of meteorite rock, which is wrapped and used as a hilt. The blade has faint markings of what appears to be a bony hand grasping it several times.
