Jales Family Sword

Steel Realms
Value: 8000 silver crowns (1000sc for the signet ring)

The Jales family sword was the blade of the Jales family – the original “Champions of Dunstrand” (no longer an official position). This is a silvered long blade with scenes of Dwindor moorcats and boars at the base of the blade on both sides. It is stamped with the Baronial Seal of Crestwold on the pommel along with the symbol of Darupet the Lord of beasts on the crossguard (with an embedded rough emerald). Otherwise it is plain and functional, though well-built and sturdier than normal.

About/Chronicle of Jales Family Sword

Knowledge is broken down by ease of discovery/availability. If nothing is indicated, assume Common Knowledge.

Common Knowledge / Easy Difficulty

Originally wielded by Lord Andrew Jales. A hedge-knight family from Torrelson’s Ford. The family crypts are there as well. It is passed down from one generation to the next, since around 8800.

Uncommon Knowledge / Average Difficulty

The Jales family was driven out in a fabricated scandal with Dean Jales (everyone knows he was framed, but it could not be proved), to Lily March. Technically the stain on his family’s honor cannot be removed. The position of Champion of Crestwold died when his line was forced to move away. Since the honor cannot be restored, there can be no champion, though the locales will feel positively inclined to anyone who openly wears the signet champion ring.

Rare Knowledge / Very Hard Difficulty

The guard has a strange notch in it, which fits a feature of the Champion of Crestwold’s signet ring.

Sword This is believed to be one of the Greeniron Remnants.

Obscure Knowledge / Near-Impossible Difficulty

Note: Secret Knowledge is information not available in any known references; It is not necessarily Forbidden Knowledge.

Killiam Jales, last of the Jales family, was killed on his way to Crestwold in 9166. His killer, a man named Mack Walken, stole the ring and blade, not knowing what he had, just that they worked together.
