Nicolagaus the Seer
Nicolagaos the Seer was a powerful magus from the elder days. His name is mentioned in over 300 years with of history, from the Age of the Second Fellowship from around 600-900 CY. He is known to have been an ally of Ducateon and their advocate in the Second Fellowship. His signature mirror-like helm that fit his skull perfectly was a gift from the Ducateon to him, for some service he had rendered, now lost to time. Some say he was blind himself. He was most famous for his ability to see events happening far away, thought to be from his helm.
Was a powerful sorcerer from the Al Habbaen region of the Fallen East. It is said that he was either there, or somehow gained memories of the The Faul of Nurthland. His accounts were vivid and specific, even though there is no record of him being there at the time. He is known to have recounting surviving the horrific ordeal to historians repeatedly.
Nicolagaus was said to be able to travel anywhere safely, and was a powerful wizard that would often see into the old Dark/Orrish lands to assist the recovery of items within them. He assisted rangers, priestly orders, the High King, archeologists… He made few friends and was said to have become a paranoid and distrustful man. He was a prolific creator of magical items – though many said he found them and claimed them as his own. The greatest of these was the famous Helm of Nicolagaus and the Bands of Seeing/Clarity of Sight.
It is unknown what happened to him, he just ceased to be mentioned in the history books at a certain point; CY 2800s is the last mention – though it is second hand and he was thought to have died long before that. His ultimate fate is unknown. It is recorded in one place that in CY 2489 he was a partner in a party seeking audience with the Ducateon Lord of Rockholm. Strangely, there was never any attempt to discover what lead to or caused his demise.

Dunstrand Rising (Steel Realms Campaign) – Living World Campaign Record > A grave was eventually discovered in Bar-Innis of Dunstrand, within the ancient cemetery of dilapidated church of a backwater called Braddon Bog. Within this was the fabled Helm of Nicolagaus the Seer. Eventually, the helm made its way into the hands of a sorcerer named Mendollin .
Nicolagaus’ Emerald Cavern of Dreams
There may be several of these, as they are hinted at in multiple sources. Nicolagaus had access to one, and often referred to it in passing but revealed nothing. It was rumored that this is where he went to see his visions of the future. Sleeping, praying, and meditating in them was known to provide visions and refresh those doing it. Meditation was extremely powerful in such places, but was sometimes [rarely] followed by nightmares.
