Year 2022 Design Work Summary

This material is not meant for Players or GMs; This is part of design, development and testing and is intended for that audience to assist in creating and assessing Incarna materials.

Incarna This is an iVerse Change Log; a summary of issues raised and/or dealt with through official game designer meetings and efforts.

As of 11/2022 the Incarna Site/Incarna Gaming Network (IGN) is a VANITY PROJECT. There is no effort to monetize anything. There is no attempt to reach a wider audience or market. However, in support of a vanity project for both iCore and i20, it behooves the people identified as still supporting Incarna to align as any efforts as possible to reduce overall work. The IGN is a low priority (‘low’ means there is no consistent work each week, though Kelly Berger commits to have some materials updated at least every other week).

Kelly Berger is the ONLY final arbiter of content (though others can contribute). Kelly’s Commitment:

– Focused on world building and adventure writing – this is my continued preference.
– Mechanics focus is the new “i20” approach. Basic references have been updated from “Incarna d20”.
– Mechanics updates are only “as encountered” – i.e. is a Feature is updated, the current template/format is applied, but there is no effort made to apply new formats/templates to entire groups of pages where the content is not being updated as well.
– Mechanic updates as needed to assist with Character Creation/Configuration to assist with the role as a GM and content contributor for World and Adventure content.

Current Goals

  1. Focus on a single social media presence. Drop Twitter. Do more regular posts on Facebook.
  2. Improve site search (Google/public has first focus) so current users can find information better. It should not require any active members of the IGN to direct people on where to go.
  3. Unify some key formats: Features, Institutions/Orders, Settlements, and apply them to a select group for review (Steel Realms – Faiths).
  4. Define specific needs and uses of Character Points to unify i20 and iCore.

And yes, this is an attempt to unify i20 and iCore better – which of course brings up why i20 at all? Because its easier to modify and let someone else do the hard work of full mechanics design. Mechanics design is great if you have a large market share, or are maintaining them as part of a video game or other platform implementation that scales better than table top.
