Hunting Ingredients with Bella /DONE

Bella says “I’ve lost my protections in the areas around the town. In order to test some of the things I’ve read I need to gather a few ingredients. I need you to escort me out into the delta, and a short jaunt up north along the Black Shore. I need to replenish my stores for astrology and spells.”

Common elements for Searching: She insists that the PCs spend their full time protecting her – it is her mission, not theirs, to find ingredients (Material Empowerment). “Stay alert!”

  • ENCOUNTERS: Some sent by the goddess Elancil, some natural… all interrupt rest if it happens at night.

      > Sent by The Swamp Witch or Elancil?
    2. 6-10: Twig Blight; 1 for each party member. Appears as drift wood, brush, fallen branch or hidden in water.
    3. 11-15: Ochre Jelly – uses surprise by hiding in the reeds, earth and rushes.

Searching the Wonald Delta

Wonald Delta: 12 hours per day spent searching – its too wet. She mutters to herself a lot, and seems to grow more confident over time in moving through the swampy delta, and in hunting whatever it is she is looking for.

Day 2 Black Shore: The Gwinnish War Sloop

Your timing is perfect. West, a hundred meters, in the currents of mist that flow along the edge of the swamp in the evening shade of the mountains of Scar Flow you can make out a pair of ships, moving fast going north. These are definitely not the flat bottom trade barges of Dunstrand.

Perfect timing as a Gwinnish sloop sails up the black shore when PCs are out with Bella in bad weather. How do they warn Lilymarch or the regions ahead? PCs messenger bird for House Malor!
<[ i ] > DC 20 Intelligence (History) to recognize them as Gwinnish war sloops. The perpetual high tide that The Interloper moon has caused recently is allowing them more than enough maneuver room to move rapidly up the shore and strike deep into Bar-Innis!

Outcome(s)

You hear from sources in House Malor that the war party was intercepted. They were overloaded with mercenaries, who were to rampage through Richfield and take the risky coastal road on the south side of the pass to Tarmysia.

The Gwinnish sloops were actually seeking the Tombs of Hammarin – the ancient burial ground of the Sea King clan of Hammrin on the Peak of Danel off the coast of Dwindor Swamp off Richfield. The news is that they were seeking ancient burial grounds, but not its location. The sailors killed themselves – ALL OF THEM – before they could be interrogated. They had taken the sign of the drowned man before they left on their mission, sword to absolute secrecy. All sort of rumors are starting to spread out from this event.

If Bella got more than 4 successes, each one after will be a Uncommon: Simple cost portion (10%) of ingredients for spells to give to the party in addition to what she needs.

Lie 1: she has auguried and the bones say the party should leave, it is a bad time for them (woe)
Lie 2: something the barons ancient ancestor did bring on the sickness
Lie 3: she has seen Dwindor Moor Cats in town at night prowling in the shadows looking for something- nature is set against us!
