The Alliance and Death of One-Claw (WORKING)

One Claw’s Plan

There has been a new development that One Claw believes could turn the tide for goblins of Dwindor. Aside from asking the gods, normally deaf and blind, to aid him and his people, he has become aware that something special has come of the edges of Dwindor. Before perishing, Nerislin the Seeress shared some of her power with One Claw – his until he dies. There is a new presence, a catspaw of the current Witch of Dwindor, that One Claw wishes to bring to his side. He is willing to relinquish his power and use it to protect this new presence, the power will not return to the current Witch of Dwindor (making her angry when he dies). He will shroud the Reavenoc in the power of Dwindor and the spirits of the Bronzemen. In return, the creature will ever be an ally of the goblins of Dwindor and answer the call for assistance.

Setup

Pyres of bodies burning across the country side and mass graves are dug… the toll of the dreams of Gruxand the Necromancer. For a week the dead are lamented.

There was a nobleman, Sir Gregory Haulding of Lilyglen, revealed to be a vampire. For several nights, free of the Lich Lord’s control, he went upon a feeding frenzy. Finally hunted down by House Malor.

Bodies have been showing up on the black shore and Calibans Slurry (even a few bodies coming down the river) – half eaten. Moorcats? Swamp creatures? Finding the bodies (trip with Lucky?) reveal huge bite marks. Ogre sized.

Cattle vanishing – dragon taking them off to eat. Shadow seen at night.

Huge sound of breaking stone out on the delta (Reavenoc fights Larry at Umbakian ruins)

The Moorcats of Dwindor have gone mad – for an entire lunar cycle they caterwaul at night and dig up the graves, kill livestock and leave the bodies.

Bodies have been showing up on the black shore. This time they are Gwinnish soldiers and navymen… weapons wounds.

Death Bloom (lilies of Dwindor): whenever a great amount of death happens in the swamp, the lilies enter into a second blooming season, but with red veins in a rare few – find one.
The bloom is over, but 4 were found. 2 are known, 2 rumored. Lilymarch
Track rumor, get it. At any cost. No one must know you have it/get it.
Agent power: chant on edge of swamp, summon giant bat or crocodile for travel
Witch summons kynar – can keep the curse at bay if he is under her protection. Bonds with feather. Wings and tail grow back.

Finding One-Claw

Meeting One Claw

“I am dying, that is the fact.”

My original intensions were not so pure, but here we are. The light of Ezrilus once led the Grollen to redemption and I believe there may be a chance for my followers as well. Nerislin the Seeress – the Witch of Dwindor for a thousand years at least – once held this ideal as well, but she has passed and there has been multiple wardens of mighty Dwindor since. The new powers that meddle in the fate of Dunstrand Vale seem to have forgotten or trivialize us here. For the witch now, we are pawns, not the allies we once were. There is discord in our people again, and I am afraid that without me, bloodshed in the lands of men by Goblins of Dwindor will once again be seen. This means the Umbakians will return, and Dunstrandians will not protect us. It will mean our death and the death of the dream many of us had for a few generations now.

Meeting Reavoc/Ranyk

This is Ranyk. Behind one claw stands an 8′ tall creature, wearing a massive cloak with a hump on the left side. It has a patch over one eye, the other stares unblinking with menace. It nods its head toward you. “Ranyk is a servant of my people, through a blood oath. Upon my death, the Witch’s power over this creature will be broken and it will be a servant to my people alone. I will leave it to you to figure out the relationship between you. Know that each clan will be governed by their own goblin chieftain after I pass, but that my council and Ranyk will keep them in line. Work with him, I implore you. It may be the only chance to keep the peace.

Alliance with One-Claw

If you wish to be our true ally, you must rid the swamp of the creatures which can be associated with us. They prey on us, but are evil and the humans associate them with us and will hold us accountable.

Green ladies – Entreats us to work with them, has goblin minions of her own and rides the sky on strange wings
Dragon – guilt by evil intent perception
Ogre – guilt by racial association, last known to claim the ruins of the Umbakian castle in the delta west of Torrelsons Ford.
Mondollin + toad faced dog has recruited goblins – guilt by racial association
Inland Orrish – guilt by racial association
Smugglers – whenever they get caught along the black shore, they leave the bodies and stage it to look like goblins did it
Slavers ship crash – Now something altogether alien has manifested and will likely just cause more perceptions to blame us for it unless it’s threat is dealt with. The bones tell me little of the nature of the threat, it is hidden from my understanding.

THE WHIRLWIND
You stand against a massive cyclone of chaos and violence.

Death of One-Claw

One Claw Dies – Respect means PCs should learn history and go pay homage to the peace he kept. They will find out the Birthing Idol was recovered from his apprentice (who might get killed while they are there).

ambush in swamp on Gwinnish troops.
Berthing Idol on bottom of swamp where Elincil’s priestess and Wave Watchers Guild Brother taken out.= restarted apshai

boat swamped when monstrous (40′) snake attacks skiff on prompting from the witch.
the charmed Gwinnish navigator had his favorite ‘pet’ food on him.
the witch told her pet where the food was and was released (go and get it boy!) to find it.
the navigator had shaken hands with the others so they had the scent on them as well.

the wave watcher and priestess tried to escape but one was caught in the behemoths coils
and the other that had taken to flight was targeted by missile weapons and then forced into the water by
the captured air elemental the witch had gained from the booty on the boat (the other Guild brother’s elemental).

afterward did she have the water elemental bring up the Idol and any booty it could find? y
possibility of retrieving the idol, another communication device pair (triplet?), another heat/cold stone pair.
or where they lost in the swamp?

only her and One Claw knowing the location?
Dirge for one claw. He is dead

Usurped Power

Witch: Power that was supposed to return to me upon the death of One Claw has been usurped. A creature you call ogre, some shaman or mystic has been given the power – how I dont know. Now i am forced to build an altar, and upon it sacrifice items of power to gain the power that was my due, promised by pact. I’m not stupid enough to brace the will of the gods, but I will gain a measure of power that i was denied – there is a balance to be struck in my favor. Items that you see to dispose of, permanently, might I suggest that you consider my cause. Redress the wrong, and I will give you power.
